Thai Cuisine is well-known for being hot and spicy and for its balance of five fundamental flavors in each dish or the overall meal - hot (spicy), sour, sweet, salty, and bitter (optional). Thai food is characterized by the use of fresh herbs, spices and flavors like lemon grass, lime juice, fresh coriander, chillies fish sauce and shrimp paste. It is also known for being hot and spicy and for the balance of the five fundamental flavors in each dish. Some of the famous Thai dishes are: Pad Thai a pan fried rice noodles; Tom Yam a hot and sour soup with meat and Sate which is grilled meat served with cucumber salad and peanut sauce.
